Sac State falls to Egypt in Taiwan

Sacramento State, playing its sixth game in six days, shot 31.4 percent from the floor and lost to Egypt’s national team 70-63 in the sixth round of the William Jones Cup in Taiwan.

The Hornets dropped to 2-4 in the eight-game, nine-day, nine-team men’s basketball tournament in New Taipei City. Egypt is 3-3.

Sac State was led by freshman Matt Battaglia (15 points), Jeff Wu (14 points) and Justin Strings (12 points, nine rebounds).

The Hornets have Friday off before playing Chinese Taipei A (3-2) on Saturday and Japan (3-2) on Sunday in their final two games.
