Even with their best player watching from the bench, the UC Davis men were undaunted in their first-place Big West Conference showdown at UC Irvine on Thursday night.
With Josh Ritchart scoring 22 points on 10-of-11 shooting, Tyler Les scoring a season-high 18 points and the Aggies holding the Anteaters to season-low 30.4 percent shooting, UC Davis rolled to a 75-56 stunner.
The Aggies (17-4, 7-1) snapped UCI’s six-game winning streak, ended a seven-game losing streak to the Anteaters (13-9, 6-2) and stayed atop the conference along with Long Beach State. The 49ers (13-11, 7-1) beat UC Riverside 68-63 and will host UC Irvine on Saturday. UCD visits Cal State Northridge the same night.
The Aggies played without conference scoring leader Corey Hawkins, who has a lower leg injury.
