Prep of the Week: Roseville High’s Brendan McMinn

Brendan McMinn is picking up speed. The Roseville High School senior running back started the season with a 28-yard rushing effort in a 38-0 win over Chico. Then he rushed for 135 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-23 triumph of Rio Linda.

Last Friday, McMinn rushed for 159 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-6 victory over River Valley that helped give the Tigers their first 3-0 start since 2007. McMinn’s efforts earned him The Bee’s Prep of the Week through fan voting on sacbee.com.

He scored on runs of 25, 11 and 1 yards against River Valley and finished with 213 all-purpose yards. No. 12 Roseville has a bye this week and opens Capital Valley Conference play on Sept. 23 at No. 16 Del Campo. The CVC also includes No. 8 Antelope, No. 11 Whitney and No. 19 Cosumnes Oaks.
