Republic FC continued its string of good form on Sunday, beating Portland Timbers 2 1-0 in Portland.

The win moved Republic FC into fifth place in the USL Western Conference standings with 34 points. Portland Timbers sits in last place with only 9 points on the year, according to the USL website.

Forward Wilson Kneeshaw took advantage of a deflection in the box in the 14th minute. He controlled the ball and slotted it into the bottom left corner of the net to give Sacramento a 1-0 lead. It’s all they would need, as they held on for the rest of the game.

With the win Republic FC extended its unbeaten streak to seven, the second-longest active streak in USL. Sacramento hasn’t lost a USL game since June 10, when the team lost 2-0 to Reno 1868 FC. They did lose to CF Pachuca 3-0 in a friendly on July 15.

Sacramento will play Reno 1868 FC again on Saturday at 8 p.m. at Papa Murphy’s Park.
