Newcastle United was founded in 1892 after the two clubs in Newcastle upon Tyne – East End and West End – joined to compete in the new Football League. Newcastle United has won the Football Association Challenge Cup six times (1910, 1924, 1932, 1951, 1952, 1955) and won the First Division title four times (1904-05, 1906-07, 1908-09, 1926-27). The team has played in the EPL for all but two years in its history and has never dropped below English football’s second tier.
