Highlights: Man of the match Rodrigo Lopez scored two unassisted goals to give Republic FC a 2-1 halftime lead. The midfielder hit a volley in the box in the 12th minute on a poor Charleston clearance, then scored from 25 yards in the 25th minute, a shot that left goalie Odisnel Cooper frozen after Lopez dribbled between two defenders to get the open shot. With the win, Republic FC (16-6-3, 51 points) moves into second place in USL Pro ahead of the Richmond Kickers (14-2-10, 49 points) while extending its unbeaten streak to eight matches, including six wins in a row. Sacramento also snapped an the eight-match unbeaten streak for the fifth-place Battery (9-9-8, 35 points).
Goal of the match: Steven Evans scored from the top of the box in the 82nd minute after Dakota Collins crossed from the right side toward Adam Jahn in the center of the box. But Jahn let the ball roll through to a wide-open Evans.
Shorthanded: Republic Forwards Thomas Stewart (left hamstring) and Justin Braun (fractured toe) sat out the match because of injuries. Midfielder Max Alvarez was suspended for the match because of too many yellow cards.
