Republic FC Academy goalkeeper joins U-15 national team camp

Republic FC Academy U-16 goalkeeper Mason Finnell from Vista del Lago High School is participating this week in the United States U-15 Boys National Team Camp in Bradenton, Fla.

The sophomore is the first Republic FC Academy player to be selected to a national team domestic training camp since the Academy was formed earlier this year.

Finnell has appeared in five matches and allowed three goals and recorded three shutouts for the Academy U-16 team that is 4-3-1 in its first season.

Finnell will be in the U-15 National Team camp at the IMG Academy through Sunday. The players will compete in intrasquad matches Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Finnell also was selected for the inaugural Boys National Team Futures training camp May 23-26 in Carson. He previously played for the Placer United Soccer Club.

The Republic FC Academy, comprised of three age-group teams, is a member of the U.S. Soccer Developmental Academy formed to provide education, resources and support to clubs helping to develop players who can compete at the highest levels of soccer.
