NBA summer league locals report: Marquese Chriss with nice spin move

SPENCER BUTTERFIELD, Jazz guard (Del Oro High, Yuba College)

Saturday: In an 88-73 loss to the Washington Wizards, Butterfield made the only shot he took and had two points in 12 minutes. The Jazz was plus-5 during Butterfield’s time on the court. He was the only player who finished with a plus number.

Utah Jazz summer league: Butterfield logged the second most court time for the Jazz against the Celtics on July 5, when he started and had eight points, six rebounds and a blocked shot in nearly 23 minutes. He shot 2 for 3 from three-point range in Utah’s 89-82 loss. Starting opposite Butterfield at shooting guard, former King Marcus Thornton went 3 for 8 from the field for 10 points.

Butterfield came off the bench against the Philadelphia 76ers on July 7, finishing with nine points and five rebounds in an 86-75 defeat. The Jazz went 0-3.

MARQUESE CHRISS, Suns forward (Pleasant Grove High School)

Saturday: In an 86-73 win over the Portland Trail Blazers, Chriss started and had four points on 2-of-10 shooting and six rebounds in 29 minutes. He scored two of those points on a nice spin move, shown here via an NBA TV post on Twitter:

COREY HAWKINS, Warriors guard (UC Davis)

Saturday: Hawkins missed the only shot he attempted, a three-pointer, in about three minutes of action during the Warriors’ 63-61 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. He finished with an assist and a rebound.
