Illness sidelines Marquese Chriss as Suns advance in summer league

Thursday: Butterfield made 1 of 6 shots for two points and had four rebounds during 16 minutes off the bench in Utah’s 80-60 loss to Denver. Jamal Murray scored 20 points, Jimmer Fredette added 12 and the Nuggets broke open a close game with a big third quarter on their way to the quarterfinals.

MARQUESE CHRISS, Suns forward (Pleasant Grove High School)

Thursday: Chriss did not dress for the game against the Miami Heat because of an illness, ESPN reported. Tyler Ulis scored 20 points as the fifth-seeded Suns moved into the quarterfinals with a 77-74 win. Dragan Bender, the No. 4 overall pick, shot just 3 for 13 from the field but finished with 10 points and nine rebounds.

COREY HAWKINS, Warriors guard (UC Davis)

Thursday: Hawkins notched a rebound and a steal but did not attempt a shot in eight minutes off the bench during the Warriors’ 75-69 loss to the Toronto Raptors.
