Sacramento Kings

Kings by the numbers: Payroll breakdown

Salary source:

Under contract for next season

DeMarcus Cousins$13.7 million

Carl Landry$6.8 million

Derrick Williams$6.7 million

Jason Thompson$6 million

Jason Terry$5.5 million

Ben McLemore$3 million

Travis Outlaw$3 million

Reggie Evans$1.8 million

Ray McCallum$816,482

• Comment: Of this group, Thompson’s name will continue to be mentioned the most in trade talks. The Kings have a lot of money tied up in forwards (Landry, Thompson, Williams and Evans) and will look to move at least one. Depending on what happens with Rudy Gay, Williams could start at small forward next season.

Contract with player options

Rudy Gay$19.3 million

• Comment: Even if Gay opts out, the Kings will look to work out a multiyear deal with him. He’s a big favorite of the coaching staff and front office.

Contract with team options

Quincy Acy$915,245

• Comment: Kings coach Michael Malone loves Acy’s willingness to defend. But with Landry, Thompson, Evans and Outlaw under contract, there might not be room to bring him back at that salary. His contract is not guaranteed, so he could be back for training camp.

Restricted free agent

Isaiah Thomas

• Comment: Thomas will officially become a restricted free agent once the Kings make him a qualifying offer, a formality. He is in line for a big raise after making a little more than $880,000 this season. His qualifying offer is worth $1.15 million.

Free agents

Aaron Gray, Jared Cunningham, Willie Reed

Reed figures to be around for training camp with a chance to make the team. The Kings would consider re-signing Gray, who made $2.7 million this season, but likely for a lower salary.
