DeMarcus Cousins leads balanced attack as Kings rout Suns 113-94 in opener

Player of the game: DeMarcus Cousins scored a game-high 24 points as the Kings opened the season with a win for the first time since 2013, routing the Phoenix Suns 113-94 Wednesday night at Talking Stick Resort Arena. The Kings’ biggest lead was 26 points.

Turning point: Sparked by the bench, Sacramento closed the first quarter on a 16-1 run to take a 30-19 lead.

X-factor: The Kings received key contributions from several reserves, led by Matt Barnes (14 points, seven rebounds) and Garrett Temple (12 points).
