Player of the game: Kawhi Leonard had 30 points, five assists and five steals as the San Antonio Spurs clamped down defensively in the second half to spoil the Kings’ first regular-season game at Golden 1 Center with a 102-94 victory Thursday night. DeMarcus Cousins led the Kings with 37 points and 16 rebounds.

Turning point: San Antonio closed the third quarter with a 14-3 run to lead 76-71. The Kings managed just 14 points in the third.

X-factor: The Spurs’ bench provided a boost after the Kings led 14-6. A key figure was center Dewayne Dedmon with 12 points, seven rebounds and four blocks.
