Griffin, Redick help Clippers fend off Kings’ late comeback

Player of the game: Blake Griffin had 28 points, seven rebounds and six assists as the Los Angeles Clippers escaped with a 121-115 win over the Kings Friday night at Golden 1 Center. The Clippers led by as many as 26 points. DeMarcus Cousins led the Kings with 38 points and 13 rebounds.

Turning point: The Clippers outscored the Kings 21-6 to end the first quarter and take a 40-24 lead. The Kings cut the deficit to two with 2:04 left in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t overcome their slow start.

X-factor: J.J. Redick was the catalyst for the hot start. He made his first three six pointers and had 22 points in the first half. He finished with 26 points.

Injuries: None.

Records: Kings 4-9; Clippers 11-2
