Player of the game: Rudy Gay had 33 points to the lead the Kings, who ended a four-game skid.

Turning point: The Hornets opened the third quarter on an 12-4 run to cut their deficit to 61-58. The Kings answered with a 9-2 run and avoided a third-quarter collapse.

Key stat: The Kings gave up 11 points off turnovers, an amazingly low total considering the team committed 22 turnovers.

X-factor: Sacramento’s bench contributed 33 points, 22 rebounds and 11 assists. Reggie Evans had 16rebounds, Derrick Williams 13 points and Andre Miller seven assists.

Injury update: DeMarcus Cousins missed the game with a right calf strain. Cody Zeller returned to Charlotte’s starting lineup from a shoulder injury.
