1. Transition defense: The Nuggets feature one of the league’s best initiators of an up-tempo offense, point guard Ty Lawson, and will look to push the pace. The Kings must be quick to get back defensively, or the Nuggets will pile up easy points.
2. Protect the rim: The Kings must reduce their defensive breakdowns. They can’t give up easy layups in the halfcourt.
3. Fast-break points: If Sacramento can force turnovers and get stops, that should lead to transition scoring chances. Without DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay, the Kings must generate easy offense as often as possible.
