The Kings tend to be more focused against teams with star players, and that was the case when Sacramento beat the Houston Rockets, 106-91, Dec. 15 in Sacramento.
“That was one of our better defensive efforts of the year,” said Kings coach Michael Malone. “I think they were averaging 107 points a game and held them to (91), 41 percent from the field.”
Malone is also aware things could be much different playing the Rockets on the road.
“If we do not defend at a high level it could be a long night,” Malone said.

The Rockets are averaging 105.7 points this season.
*The Rockets are still having defensive struggles and are coming off a 117-86 loss at Oklahoma City. Houston coach Kevin McHale said he’s simplified things on defense to help. Houston gives up 102.3 points per game.
McHale said in DeMarcus Cousins, Rudy Gay and Isaiah Thomas, the Kings have three players capable of scoring 20-plus points in any game.
Prediction time: The Kings haven’t beaten a team above .500 on the road this season, so why not tonight?
