The Kings have added Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman and former NBA guard Anthony Carter to George Karl’s coaching staff.

Lieberman is the second woman hired as an assistant coach in the NBA. Former WNBA star Becky Hammon joined San Antonio’s staff last season.

It won’t be the first time Lieberman has coached for a men’s team. The three-time All-American at Old Dominion (1978-80) was hired as coach of the Texas Legends, the NBA Development League affiliate for the Dallas Mavericks, in 2009. She led the Legends to the playoffs in 2010-11.

Lieberman was inducted to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1996.

Carter played for Karl in Denver and was an assistant coach the last two seasons for the Austin Spurs, San Antonio’s D-League affiliate. He played 14 seasons in the NBA for Miami, San Antonio, Minnesota, Denver, Toronto and New York.

Lieberman and Carter were part of the Kings’ summer-league coaching staff.

They join associate head coach Chad Iske and assistants Vance Walberg, John Welch and Corliss Williamson. Williamson is the only assistant returning from last season.
