Kings vs. Rockets

THE PARTICULARS

  • Where: Sleep Train Arena
  • When: Friday, 7:30 p.m.
  • TV/radio: CSNCA, ESPN, 1140, 950

THREE KEYS

  • 1. Backcourt defense: The Kings are coming off a loss at Phoenix in which two guards torched them. For the defense to improve, Sacramento’s guards must control James Harden and Patrick Beverley.
  • 2. Interior defense: Phoenix backup Alex Len was the latest big man to have a productive game against the Kings. The rim protection must improve, with DeMarcus Cousins (right Achilles’ strain) to miss at least another two games before being re-evaluated, the team said Thursday.
  • 3. What’s the plan?: There are clearly communication issues regarding the defensive strategy. Coach George Karl said he will simplify things. That plan must get to the players, or the Rockets could blow out the Kings.
