Cousins returns, but Kings fall to Spurs 106-88

Player of the game: Kawhi Leonard had 24 points as the San Antonio Spurs spoiled DeMarcus’ Cousins return from injury and handed the Kings their sixth consecutive loss, 106-88 Monday night at Sleep Train Arena.

Turning point: The Kings trailed 76-72 with 10:23 to play. The Spurs, sparked by tough defense, then went on a 26-8 run to put away the game.

X-factor: The Kings’ starting lineup struggled again, shooting 16 of 48 from the field. Sacramento’s bench scored 45 points.

Records: Kings 1-7, Spurs 5-2

Key injuries: The Kings’ Darren Collison (strained left hamstring) and Seth Curry (sprained right ankle) missed their second consecutive game.

"Players-only meeting," is needed according to DeMarcus Cousins after sixth straight loss.
