Kings’ DeMarcus Cousins selected for All-NBA second team

Kings center DeMarcus Cousins has been selected for the All-NBA second team for the second year in a row.

Cousins received 32 votes for first team, 28 votes for second team and nine votes for third team, 277 total points. The Los Angeles Clippers’ DeAndre Jordan received the most points among centers (39-36-14, 317 points)

Cousins joins Mitch Richmond (1993-94 and 1994-5) and Chris Webber (1998-99, 2002-03) as the only Kings players in the Sacramento era to receive All-NBA recognition in back-to-back seasons.

Cousins, in his sixth season with the Kings, averaged 26.9 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.55 steals, 1.42 blocks and 34.6 minutes in 65 games. He was fourth in the NBA in scoring, fifth in rebounding and fifth in double-doubles (47). Cousins was selected for the 2016 NBA Western Conference All-Star Team, becoming the first Kings player to participate in consecutive All-Star Games since Peja Stojakovic (2002-2004). Cousins also twice was named Western Conference player of the week (Nov. 16 and Jan. 25).

Golden State guard Stephen Curry and Cleveland forward LeBron James headline the first team. Curry was the only player selected for the first team on all 129 ballots; James received 125 votes for first team and four for second team. Others on the first team are San Antonio forward Kawhi Leonard and Oklahoma City guard Russell Westbrook.
