Dallas’ second-quarter spurt decisive

Records: Kings 17-31, Mavericks 34-18

Player of the game: Dallas guard Monta Ellis had 21 points and made eight of his first nine shots to help Dallas blow the game open in the first half.

Turning point: With the score 35-35 in the second quarter, the Mavericks used a 14-0 run to create separation and send the Kings to their 10th loss in their past 11 games.

Key stat: The 78 points were the second-lowest total of the season for Sacramento.

X-factors: Dallas center Tyson Chandler had 16 points and 16 rebounds to add some frontcourt scoring.

Injury update: Kings starting point guard Darren Collison left the game with 1:16 left in the second quarter because an abdominal strain and will have an MRI on Friday. Dallas was without Rajon Rondo (left orbital fracture) and Dirk Nowitzki (rest).
