Jimmy Garoppolo and the 49ers will open their preseason schedule with a home game against the Cowboys followed by road contests against the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts.
The team will close the summer session on Aug. 30 with a home game against the Chargers, their only annual preseason opponent. The 49ers' previous series with the Oakland Raiders was suspended after fan violence erupted during a game at Candlestick Park in 2011.
The game against the Cowboys will take place at some point between Aug. 9 and 13th. The exact dates and times of the games will be announced at a later date.
Garoppolo took plenty of preseason snaps for the New England Patriots in recent years but will be going through his first-ever offseason and preseason with the 49ers. San Francisco's offseason program begins on Monday.
