Offense: It wasn’t always pretty, especially early, but the 49ers’ offensive line asserts itself in the second half by wearing down the Panthers’ celebrated defensive front. Anquan Boldin, as he has been all season, is prominent when Michael Crabtree is quiet. Grade: A-
Defense: Cam Newton has all day to throw at times but also get sacks at just the right moments, including a back-to-back sequence that turns a possible Panthers field goal into a punt. The 49ers win the turnover battle 2-0. Grade: A-
Special teams: The coverage unit allows a 24-yard punt return by Ted Ginn early in the second quarter. But it’s solid from then on while Phil Dawson nails all three of his field-goal attempts. Grade: B+
