Offense: Colin Kaepernick now owns three of the NFL’s top five rushing performances for a quarterback in the postseason after his 130-yard day. But his three turnovers in the fourth quarter offset his ground dominance. Frank Gore rushes for only 14 yards. Grade: C
Defense: As was the case in last year’s playoffs, big plays – a 40-yard Marshawn Lynch touchdown run and a 35-yard touchdown catch by Jermaine Kearse – doom the 49ers. Lynch runs for 109 yards, the first rusher to go over 100 yards against San Francisco all season. Grade: C
Special teams: LaMichael James’ muffed punt return to start the second quarter could have been disastrous, but Darryl Morris pounced on the loose ball. The 49ers also allowed a 69-yard kickoff return by Doug Baldwin in the third quarter. Grade: D+

Overall: The 49ers’ season ends with a heartbreaking loss for the third year in a row. The pain is doubled after two key players, NaVorro Bowman and Mike Iupati, leave with injuries that will last well into the offseason. Grade: C
