49ers-Bears pregame: Chicago wideouts to play; Tramaine Brock will not

SANTA CLARA -- As expected, Chris Culliver will start at cornerback for the 49ers but Tramaine Brock will not. Brock suffered a turf-toe injury in the first quarter last week. He did not practice in the run-up to the game. Culliver, meanwhile, suffered a concussion and shoulder stinger but passed the league-mandated protocol and practiced throughout the week.

Meanwhile, both of the Bears’ top receivers, Brandon Marshall (ankle) and Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) will be in uniform. Of the two, Jeffery is the only one who practiced during the run-up to today’s game and the only session he attended was Friday’s.

Another receiver, former 49er Josh Morgan, is not in uniform because of a groin injury. The Bears promoted two receivers, Josh Bellamy and Chris Williams, from the practice squad on Saturday. Brian de la Puente will start at center in place of Roberto Garza while Michael Ola will start in place of guard Matt Slauson.

Perrish Cox will start for Brock for the 49ers. Jonathan Martin will make his second straight start at right tackle in place of Anthony Davis (hamstring).

Unlike last week, both Quinton Dial and Tank Carradine are active, the first time Carradine, a high second-round pick a year ago, has been in uniform. Demarcus Dobbs and Brandon Lloyd are inactive.

Ray McDonald, as expected, will start at left defensive end.
