Both Vernon Davis and Anthony Davis are active today and in line to start, good news for a 49ers rushing attack that enters the game ranked 18th in the league and was lightly used in last week’s loss.
Meanwhile, another tight end, Vance McDonald, will miss his second straight game with a knee injury. Derek Carrier will play in his place. Second-year defensive lineman Tank Carradine and starting cornerback Tramaine Brock (toe) are inactive for the third time this season.
Carradine told The Bee earlier this week he suspects he is not playing because he hasn’t mastered the playbook. The 49ers have just four sacks through three games, a pace that would leave them with their fewest ever in a 16-game season.
Vernon Davis suffered an ankle injury in the fourth quarter of Week 2 and did not play last week. The 49ers are 0-4 in games he either leaves or misses entirely due to injuries.

Right tackle Anthony Davis had never missed a start in his career -- both at Rutgers and with the 49ers -- due to an injury but had been sidelined with a hamstring injury since the start of the season. He takes over his former right tackle spot from Jonathan Martin, who along with Joe Looney will be a backup today.
Safety Antoine Bethea suffered an ankle injury late in the week in practice but will make his 100th straight start today.
