Anthony Davis, Tramaine Brock return to practice

The 49ers opened the week of practice without several key players, including Patrick Willis, but did have two seldom-seen starters in uniform. Those players were cornerback Tramaine Brock, who is coming back from a toe injury in Week 1, and right tackle Anthony Davis, who suffered knee and ankle injuries in his only start of the season in Week 4.

Both were limited.

Willis is not practicing due to a toe injury suffered on Monday. He was working out with a walking boot on his left foot and is unlikely to play against the Broncos Sunday. Also not practicing were guard Mike Iupati (concussion) and nickelback Jimmie Ward (quad) both of whom left Monday’s game in St. Louis. Jim Harbaugh today said that none of those injuries is long term.

Justin Smith also is not practicing per his custom on Wednesday. Two other defensive linemen, Ian Williams and Tony Jerod-Eddie, were in blue, no-contact jerseys. Cornerback Chris Culliver also was in a no-contact jersey.
