Blessed bye: 49ers go from injury riddled to largely healthy

SANTA CLARA -- A 49ers team riddled with injuries in its most recent game against the Broncos returned to practice today nearly intact.

Linebacker Patrick Willis (toe), safety Jimmie Ward (quadricep) and cornerback Tramaine Brock were listed as limited participants. But every member of the active roster at least was on hand for practice. That includes defensive end Justin Smith, who normally has Wednesdays off.

Two 49ers who are not currently on the active roster, nose tackle Glenn Dorsey and running back Marcus Lattimore, also practiced. Dorsey did so with a plastic brace on the arm in which he tore his bicep Aug. 1.

The 49ers currently have 52 players on the active roster. They do not need to fill the open spot for Sunday’s game. That means that Aldon Smith, should his suspension be reduced, could take that spot early next week.
