SANTA CLARA -- Even one of Colin Kaepernick's most prominent admirers is pummeling him after his career-worst performance in Arizona on Sunday.

"Had to shred my guy Colin Kap today!" Ron Jaworski wrote on Twitter Monday morning. "He was awful in his reads, throws, footwork and mechanics! He has the toolset, but doesn't use them!"

That's the same Jaworski who, two years ago, said he thought Kaepernick "could be one of the greatest quarterbacks ever. I love his skill set. I think the sky's the limit," said Jaworski, now an ESPN analyst.

Kaepernick had just taken his team to the Super Bowl when Jaworski praised him to loftily and was about to begin his first full season as a starting quarterback. The 49ers passer responded by saying, "To me, it's a great honor he said that. I'm very flattered by it. But at the same time, I haven't played a full season yet."

He started every game that year and finished with a 91.6 passer rating. The next year that rating dropped to 86.4 percent. Kaepernick's 16.7 rating in Sunday's blowout loss to the Cardinals lowers his overall rating to 71.1 through three games.
