SANTA CLARA -- Ahmad Brooks was on hand for practice Thursday, his first since the passing of his sister last week. Brooks missed Sunday's game against the Giants to be with his family and he attended his sister's funeral service on Wednesday in Louisiana.
The 49ers missed the outside linebacker in the game. His backups -- Corey Lemonier and Eli Harold -- didn't record a tackle or even a quarterback hit in a game in which Eli Manning set a personal record for pass attempts. Defensive end Tony Jerod-Eddie also lined up at outside linebacker with little effect.
Brooks was listed as limited in practice with a shoulder injury. Receiver Bruce Ellington also was added to the injury report with a calf strain. He was listed as limited.
Meanwhile, running back Carlos Hyde warmed up with the running backs and quarterbacks but went into the team's weight room, presumably to work on an exercise bike, as practice began in earnest. He ultimately was listed as limited for Thursday.
