Sacramento will host the 2017 USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships, officials confirmed Tuesday.

The meet will be at Sacramento State’s Hornet Stadium from June 22-25.

It will be the seventh time Sacramento has hosted the U.S. track and field championships. The 2017 event will be the qualifying meet for the World Outdoor Championships in London, guaranteeing a field of top athletes.

Sacramento first hosted the U.S. championships in 1968 at Hughes Stadium, when on the “Night of Speed” three sprinters shattered the world record in the men’s 100-meter dash.

The nationals returned in 1981 and 1995, followed by the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Trials. (In an Olympic year, the Olympic Trials double as the national championships.) The national championships were last held in Sacramento in 2014.
