River Cats get blitzed by El Paso

The River Cats found themselves in an early hole Wednesday night and lost their second consecutive game to the host El Paso Chihuahuas, 13-5.

The Chihuahuas jumped on River Cats starter Jake Dunning, who gave up 11 runs and nine hits in 32/3 innings.

The River Cats trailed 4-2 after scoring twice in the third on Brett Jackson’s single and Ronny Cedeno’s forceout. But El Paso responded with six runs in the bottom half.

Abraham Almonte and Alex Dickerson did most of the damage against Dunning. Almonte went 3 for 6 with four RBIs, including a three-run homer in the second inning. Dickerson went 2 for 5 with three RBIs, including a two-run homer in the third.
