River Cats suffer fourth straight loss

El Paso’s leadoff hitter, Rymer Liriano, homered twice as the host Chihuahuas handed the River Cats their fourth consecutive loss, 7-3, on Thursday night. Liriano finished 3 for 4 with three RBIs and three runs.

El Paso scored in each of the first four innings off starter Austin Fleet (0-1) to lead 7-1. The Chihuahuas erupted for four runs in the second inning on RBI hits by Taylor Lindsey (double), Liriano (single), Abraham Almonte (double) and Tommy Medica (triple).

Sacramento tallied on a sacrifice fly by John Bowker (Rio Americano High School) in the third inning, a wild pitch by reliever Cory Mazzoni in the seventh and an RBI double by Adam Duvall in the eighth. Duvall went 2 for 4 to raise his average to .419.
