For the second straight night, the visiting River Cats survived a late rally to edge the Las Vegas 51s.
Sacramento reliever Mike Broadway struck out Cory Vaughn with runners on first and second in the ninth inning to preserve a 2-1 victory. The 51s scored earlier in the inning on Darrell Ceciliani’s sacrifice fly.
The River Cats finished with five hits but had only one, Trevor Brown’s solo homer in the second, in the first seven innings. Brett Jackson added an RBI single in the eighth.
Sacramento starter Robert Coello pitched six scoreless innings to improve to 5-1. He allowed four hits, walked two and struck out six.
