• Highlight: Daric Barton had a two-run single in Sacramento’s three-run first inning, and the River Cats went on to beat the host El Paso Chihuahuas 6-1 on Monday night to end a three-game losing streak.

• Piling on: After a 67-minute rain delay in the fourth inning, the River Cats extended their lead to 5-0 in the sixth inning on Josh Whitaker’s two-run homer. Jose Martinez’s RBI single in the eighth inning accounted for Sacramento’s final run.

• Pitcher of efficiency: Zach Neal picked up the win with five scoreless innings. He allowed two hits and walked none, needing just 60 pitches.

• Top of the heap: The River Cats extended their lead in the Pacific Coast League Pacific North to 4 1/2 games over Reno.
