Blackburn delivers on mound, at plate in River Cats’ win

Clayton Blackburn pitched seven shutout innings and contributed at the plate as the River Cats beat the Albuquerque Isotopes 5-2 Sunday night at Raley Field.

Blackburn (10-4) allowed six hits, struck out five and walked one. He also went 2 for 2, including an RBI single in the third.

The River Cats gave Blackburn an early cushion, scoring all their runs in the first three innings.

The Isotopes threatened in the ninth, loading the bases and scoring once, before Steven Okert retired Trevor Story on a pop-up for the final out.

The River Cats end the season Monday at 1:05 p.m. against the Isotopes at Raley Field.
