Fire damages three Elk Grove church classrooms
Fire damaged three classrooms Friday morning at Elk Grove United Methodist Church.
Firefighters were called to the church at Elk Grove Boulevard and Gage Street in the older part of Elk Grove about 7:30 a.m.. When firefighters arrived, flames and heavy smoke were coming from the front of the classrooms.
Firefighters from Cosumnes CSD Fire Department, Sacramento Fire Department and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District quickly extinguished the blaze.
The sanctuary at the church was not damaged, said Michael McLaughlin, Cosumnes’ deputy chief. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
