Homegrown NASCAR champion Kyle Larson to get Elk Grove victory parade on Monday
Homegrown NASCAR champion Kyle Larson will be welcomed back to Elk Grove on Monday with a victory parade through the streets of the city’s Old Town.
The 2 p.m. parade celebrates the 29-year-old Larson’s 2021 NASCAR Cup Series championship, clinched with his win in the season’s final race at Phoenix International Raceway.
The route starts near Elk Grove Boulevard and Florin Road and heads east along Elk Grove to Old Town Plaza at Elk Grove Boulevard and Railroad Street, where Larson will be met by local dignitaries and racing fans.
The free parade and celebration are backed by the city of Elk Grove and Sonoma Raceway and open to the public.
Larson, a Pleasant Grove High School alum, began racing on Northern California short tracks before making his name on NASCAR’s ovals.
