Feb. 1 memorial slated for fallen Elk Grove motorcycle officer

The memorial service for Elk Grove motor officer Tyler Lenehan will be Feb. 1 at Bayside Church Adventure Campus in Roseville, Elk Grove police have announced.

Services for the 44-year-old Lenehan who died Friday from injuries he suffered in a wrong-way collision on Highway 99 near 47th Avenue, will be 10 a.m. at the Roseville church, 6401 Stanford Ranch Road.

The service at Bayside Church is open to the public, but the church asks guests not to arrive until after 9 a.m. The church has been the site of several memorials for fallen Sacramento-area officers in recent years.

The memorial service will be followed by a procession from Bayside to Green Valley Mortuary in Rescue where Lenehan will be laid to rest in a private ceremony.

Lenehan, who also served with Galt and Citrus Heights police departments, was honored Tuesday morning with a procession through the streets of Elk Grove, the city he patrolled since 2016, and on to Green Valley Mortuary in the foothill community of Rescue.

Hundreds joined a grief-stricken Elk Grove police force Tuesday in paying their respects to the husband and father of two, the first Elk Grove officer to die on duty in the city’s history.

A public viewing at the mortuary, 3004 Alexandrite Drive, Rescue, will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27; and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28.
