Elk Grove’s Sky River Casino hiring as construction continues on Wilton Rancheria resort

Hiring is underway for Sky River Casino in Elk Grove as construction crews continue to work toward a November 2022 opening date.

More than two-dozen jobs are listed from executive chefs and general managers for the casino’s restaurants and main kitchen; to shift managers, recruiters, event planners and executive-level positions, according to information on its website.

Wilton Rancheria and its development partner, Las Vegas-based Boyd Gaming, plan to employ more than 1,500 workers once doors open on the $500 million casino-resort just west of Highway 99 near Kammerer Road in southeast Elk Grove.

Boyd Gaming is well into construction of the casino’s first phase – 100,000 square feet of gaming floor space; along with restaurants, pub and a marketplace. An estimated 1,700 workers are working on the project.

March marked a year since the Wilton Rancheria tribe and Boyd broke ground at the 35-acre site amid fanfare. Elk Grove and Wilton Rancheria tribal leaders at the time hailed the new casino as a regional destination and an economic engine for the growing city; and a major step toward economic self-sufficiency for a tribe that struggled for decades.

Wilton Rancheria’s leaders said the revenue will help to improve housing, health care and educational opportunities; and pledged to invest $186 million in the city and Sacramento County over the next 20 years to support public safety, education, roads and other services.
