No injuries in early morning fire reported at Elk Grove elementary school

Laminating equipment started a small fire at an Elk Grove elementary school Wednesday morning bringing fire crews to the campus.

No injuries were reported at Zehnder Ranch Elementary School, on the 9800 block of Denali Circle, where Cosumnes Fire Department crews were called about 7:37 a.m., officials said in a social media post.

Fire crews found that a laminator caught fire, triggering a smoke alarm.

Staff briefly evacuated the school, but no students were on campus at the time.

Classes, which start at 8:35 a.m., began as scheduled and affected classes were moved to allow classrooms to air out, read an Elk Grove Unified School District letter to parents detailing the incident.
