Could this restaurant and brewhouse come to Elk Grove? State filings show site may be on tap

Elk Grove news

Elk Grove’s planned retail and entertainment development The Village is still a blueprint, but the center at Elk Grove and Big Horn boulevards looks to have landed a second major marquee.

Popular restaurant and taproom chain Yard House appears to be considering a space at the projected 127,000-square-foot center, according to state Alcoholic Beverage Control filings. The ABC filings show the chain’s request for a license at The Villages project site on the southwest corner of Elk Grove and Big Horn dated last October.

Yard House officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Officials at Pappas Investments, The Villages’ developer, would not comment on the potential of the Southern California-based brand opening a new Elk Grove location, first reported in the Sacramento Business Journal.

But Pappas vice president Kelly Rule said via email that the developer is “in negotiations with several exciting tenants at The Village.” The development billed as an “upscale neighborhood center” is expected to open in 2025, Rule said.

The Village made a splash in January after Elk Grove Economic Development officials confirmed that specialty retailer Whole Foods submitted applications to bring the natural foods supermarket to the retail center.

Architectural and landscape plans filed with Elk Grove city planners and provided to The Sacramento Bee in January show AO Architects of Orange in Southern California and RSC Engineering of Roseville signed to the project.

Elk Grove had sought to bring a Whole Foods location to the city for years. A Yard House would be one in a suite of proposed restaurants slated for The Village site and would join regional locations in downtown Sacramento, and retail-and-restaurants center The Fountains at Roseville.
