Seafood fusion restaurant Ahipoki Bowl closes in on a new Elk Grove opening. Here’s where

What's opening in the Sacramento area

Seafood eatery Ahipoki Bowl is closing in on its Elk Grove opening at The Ridge shopping center.

The Arizona-based fusion restaurant blending Japanese and Hawaiian flavors is continuing its push into the Sacramento-area market with a new storefront planned for 7460 Elk Grove Blvd., Suite 130.

The Elk Grove site will soon join sit-downs in Sacramento at 1600 Ethan Way and in Roseville at 3984 Douglas Blvd. Ahipoki Bowl also has a Stockton location, along with sites across the greater Los Angeles area, the Inland Empire and the greater Phoenix area.

Ahipoki’s California menu — the restaurant features different menus for its California and Arizona locations — features hand rolls; poke bowls of yellowtail, eel and avocado; along with unagi and Spam musubi, teriyaki chicken and grilled salmon.

News of the new restaurant at The Ridge comes as newcomer Curry Up Now folded its site at the Elk Grove retail center, as first reported in the Sacramento Business Journal. The eatery offering its take on Indian street food opened at the start of this year, joining a location at midtown Sacramento’s Ice Blocks development.

Kelly Rule, senior vice president for leasing at Pappas Investments, which owns The Ridge, said she expects Curry Up Now to turn over the keys this week, while saying nearby Akipoki is “very close” to its opening day.

Ahipoki is hiring for the new location. Resumes can be emailed to nubia@ahipoki.com.
