Elk Grove seniors will graduate at Golden 1 Center this spring after the Elk Grove Unified School District board approved a contract to host ceremonies at the downtown Sacramento arena.

Trustees on Tuesday approved a $231,525 contract with Golden 1 Center to host graduations for its nine high school campuses. Additional fees are expected to mirror last year’s costs, totaling about $43,162 for staffing, lighting, closed captioning, catering and an Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant lift.

The board approved the contract unanimously during the meeting’s consent calendar.

The district will have access to Golden 1 Center on May 24 and May 26 through May 28 for setup, graduation ceremonies and breakdown of district equipment and supplies. Graduation ceremonies are scheduled as follows:

Tuesday, May 26

  • Monterey Trail High School: 11 a.m.
  • Laguna Creek High: 3 p.m.
  • Elk Grove High: 7 p.m.

Wednesday, May 27

  • Florin High: 11 a.m.
  • Sheldon High: 3 p.m.
  • Pleasant Grove High: 7 p.m.

Thursday, May 28

  • Valley High: 11 a.m.
  • Cosumnes Oaks High: 3 p.m.
  • Franklin High: 7 p.m.

The location or dates of the ceremonies could change if they conflict with an NBA playoff game at Golden 1 Center, the district said. The Sacramento Kings, which are 14-49 with more than a dozen games to go, have a less-than 1% chance of securing the last spot in the Western Conference, according to PlayoffStatus.com, an online playoff tracking website.
