New turn lane coming to section of Elk Grove Boulevard. When construction starts
A new turn lane will be added to a section of Elk Grove Boulevard in order to ease traffic around a popular shopping center.
The new lane, a second eastbound left turn lane on Elk Grove Boulevard at Auto Center Drive, will aid vehicles turning into the nearby Walmart shopping center and reduce traffic congestion at the intersection, according to city staff reports.
According to Elk Grove’s proposed capital improvement plan for 2026 through 2031, the new lane will cost $1 million and is fully funded through California’s Senate Bill 1, known as the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.
The designing of this project is expected to begin in July and completed in March 2027, according to a city staff report.
Construction is expected to begin in June 2027 and be completed in December 2027.
