El Dorado County man faces murder charge in Placerville woman’s fatal shooting

An El Dorado County man is behind bars and facing murder charges in the shooting death of a Placerville-area woman Monday night.

Brandon James Heckley, 28, is in El Dorado County Jail in Placerville, after his arrest Monday by El Dorado County Sheriff’s deputies at a home on Mossy Oak Trail. Deputies were called to the home in Placerville’s outskirts about 7 p.m. Monday and found a woman shot multiple times, El Dorado County Sheriff’s officials said in a news release.

Deputies tried to revive the woman, who was pronounced her dead at the scene. Deputies later found and arrested Heckley without incident.

Heckley and the woman reportedly lived together. He faces suspicion of numerous charges along with the murder allegation including kidnapping, aggravated assault with a firearm; inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant; aggravated child abuse and making criminal threats, according to El Dorado County Jail records.
