Folsom offers residents vacation checks of empty homes. Here’s where you can apply
The city of Folsom offers checks on residents’ homes while they are on vacation.
As summer hits, city officials took to social media to remind citizens that home visits to ensure safety can be requested from the Citizens Assisting Public Safety, public safety department volunteers. However, the city said residents should ensure that their windows and doors are closed and mail is collected.
“Vacation checks do not take the place of good security measures,” the Folsom website reads.
Vacation checks are limited to a 30 day duration, and participating residents are required to provide 72 hours advance notice before the first day of the requested check, according to the city’s website. Failure to do so may result in delay of the check’s start.
Residents can fill out a vacation check request on the city’s website.
Questions regarding CAPS vacation checks can be directed to 916-461-6516 or Jessica Hess, the police volunteer coordinator, at jhess@folsom.ca.us.
