El Dorado Hills Town Center cancels summer concerts over alcohol enforcement complaint
The El Dorado Hills Town Center canceled its summer concerts Wednesday after receiving a complaint that the event was not complying with alcohol consumption laws.
“It has just come to my attention that the El Dorado Hills Town Center has not been sufficiently complying with the Department of Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) enforcement policies for the last several years during our Thursday summer concerts and our July 3rd events,” said Kevin Nagle, chairman of the town center in a social media post.
Nagle said the issues were brought to the attention of the property owners when a tenant complained.
“This came as a surprise to us,” he said.
Some of the issues that were identified are the consumption of alcohol brought from home or purchased nearby, having more that one vendor selling alcohol at the event and open container violations, Nagle said.
“Because of the complexity of the issues and risk associated with them, we are canceling the Thursday concert with the hope we remedy these matters quickly,” he said in a statement. “While we know these events are for the benefit of families and the community, we must assess the risks and future programming and deploy appropriate solutions in the future.”
