Chicken fans will soon be able to order a Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers box combo in Folsom.

The fast-food chain submitted a development application to the city last month. Folsom Senior Planner Josh Kinkade said the restaurant would fill the last vacant parcel in the Broadstone Pointe Shopping Center.

Raising Cane’s plans to construct a roughly 3,300-square-foot building with a drive-thru and outdoor patio, according to Kinkade.

A design review will be required for the development, Kinkade said, and the proposal will likely go before the Planning Commission within the next couple of months.

Raising Cane’s operates six restaurants in the capital region including Elk Grove, Citrus Heights, Granite Bay and Davis.

The first Raising Cane’s location opened in 1996 near the Louisiana State University campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, according to its website. Now there are more than 900 Raising Cane’s locations, of which nearly 140 are in California.

Raising Cane’s is named after a yellow Labrador retriever that belonged to founder and Chief Executive Officer Todd Graves.

An opening date for the proposed Folsom location has not been announced.
