The Folsom Police Department arrested a man accused of stealing from local businesses earlier this month.

A 34-year-old Sacramento man was arrested last week after police said he robbed a store at the Folsom Premium Outlets and threatened to shoot an employee.

The Folsom Police Department announced the arrest Monday, saying the man was taken into custody within 10 minutes of the call near Folsom Boulevard and Hazel Avenue in Rancho Cordova. Police said the man attempted to walk away from the vehicle before officers arrested him.

Folsom police say officers recovered more than $2,600 worth of stolen merchandise from the car, including high-end shoes.

Further investigation led Folsom police to believe the suspect also stole from two other local businesses. Police said the man is suspected of stealing $560 worth of merchandise on March 12 and nearly $2,000 on April 9.

The suspect, Justin Louis Stevens, was arraigned Monday in Sacramento Superior Court on charges of robbery, resisting an officer and for driving while his license was suspended, according to the jail’s inmate locator.

Court and jail records show Stevens was also being held on a remand arrest in connection with a 2022 felony case of corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant. He was sentenced in June 2022 and agreed to enter treatment, but records show he repeatedly failed to appear in court.

He remained in Sacramento County Main Jail custody for violating probation in a 2023 driving under the influence case after pleading guilty and failing to appear, according to jail records.

“The Folsom Police Department commends our officers for their swift response, attention to detail and commitment to public safety,” the Police Department wrote in a statement. “We also thank our business community for their continued partnership in helping to prevent and address crimes that impact businesses, employees and customers alike.”

He remains in custody, ineligible for bail. His next court appearance is May 4, according to court records.
